Delegation of Saharawi Women Union visits Ireland

Dublin (Ireland), March 25, 2012 (SPS) - A delegation of the National Union of Saharawi Woman, led by its Secretary General Ms. Fatma Mehdi, is visiting these days Ireland, where they held various activities and meetings with international organizations such as the Frontline Defenders, Sahrawi diplomats informed.

The delegation has been received along with the Saharawi Representative to Ireland, Mr. Fadli Ahmed, at headquarters of Frontline.

During the meeting, Mr. Andrew Anderson, Front Line Deputy Director, indicated that the issue of human rights in Western Sahara is “a priority,” agreeing to promote contacts with international women groups to address the issue human rights in Western Sahara.

The Saharawi delegation held various meetings with civil society groups, in order to raise awareness about the Saharawi cause and encourage the public involvement in future projects with the Saharawi women.

Secretary General of Saharawi Women Union, Ms. Fatma Mehdi, preferred from the capital of Ireland to the struggle of the Saharawi women and the need for international support to settlement of conflict in Western Sahara. (SPS)
