Arrest of Saharawi human rights defender in Moroccan city of Tanger

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), March 30, 2012 (SPS) - Moroccan authorities arrested on Monday the Saharawi human rights defender, Sidi Mohamed Ddch , at port of Tangier (northern Morocco) under the pretext of alleged search warrant against him, indicated Saharawi human rights sources  .

 


"the Saharawi human rights defender and President of Committee for Defending the right of self determination for the Western Sahara people, Sidi Mohamed Ddsh, arrested by security agents while he was intending to visit Spain to take part in some activities related to the human rights situation in Western Sahara " the source said.

 


The former political prisoner spent more than six hours at solitary cell before being released, added the source .

 


The Committee for Defending the right of self determination for the Western Sahara people, strongly condemned the arrest of its president "as a part the arbitrary policy committed by Moroccan authorities of occupation against the Saharawi activists". (SPS)
