Council of Ministers approves draft mining law

Shaheed Al Hefed (Refugee Camps), May 15, 2012 (SPS) - The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday the draft mining law which will be presented to the National Council (Parliament).


In a  meeting chaired by President Mohamed Abdelaziz, the Council of Ministers affirmed that this document is a legal mean for the Saharawi Republic in mining and mineral exploitation of non-oil resources.


"It will contribute to protect the Saharawi natural resources and is a clear message to the world reflects the will and determination of the Saharawi people to exist and to build their independent state" it added.


The Council also discussed a number of measures including the administrative management, housing, environment, water as well as pilgrimage season of the year 2012.

The council of Ministers congratulated the Saharawi people on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the armed struggle.


It denounced the gross human rights violations committed by Moroccan authorities of occupation against the Sahrawi civilians, calling for the release of all Saharawi political prisoners .


Council of Ministers called for the implementation of the report of UN Secretary General particularly in activating the role of MINURSO in organizing a referendum on self-determination and protecting of human rights in Western Sahara.


It welcomed the visit of delegation of African Union represents the Economic Community of the South African countries which consists of ministers from South Africa, Zimbabwe, valuing the firm position of the continent towards the decolonization of Western Sahara. (SPS)
