Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), May 21, 2012 (SPS) - President of the Republic and Secretary General of the POLISARIO, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, considered that the Moroccan State’s step to withdraw the confidence, from one side, from the UN Envoy Mr. Christopher Ross reflects confusion of the colonial powers and failure of their projects in Western Sahara, in a speech delivered Sunday to the Saharawi people marking 39th anniversary of the outbreak of armed struggle on 20 May 1973.

“Moroccan state step to what it calls withdrawing confidence from the UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy, Mr. Christopher Ross, after it cheeringly welcomed report of the UN Secretary General and decision of Security Council, reflects that close link with the oppressive colonial powers, which flounder in frantic, absurd and desperate attempt to hide the sun of truth by the sieve of falsehood,” said Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.

He called, in his letter, the attention of national public opinion about the “position of the Moroccan occupier, which is contrary to the law, violates the requirements of international legitimacy, disguise to its obligations towards international humanitarian law, and disregard all resolutions and recommendations of the European Union, the African Union and Organization of the Non-Aligned Countries, in addition to continental, national and regional parliaments, parties, international personalities, reports of the international organizations of human rights and independent media on the serious and continuing violations.”

On other hand, he described the event as an occasion to annually “conjure up the beginning of the spark of armed struggle in the face of the Spanish colonization by nearly forty years, calling on the Saharawis, in front of all these developments, to escalate the peaceful resistance and fuel the Intifada of Independence, as the current advanced and heated front.

SADR President indicated that the circumstance and its risks call for raising the slogan of “unity and escalation” in the face of occupation, saying “it is a renewed call to escalate the Intifada (uprising) of Independence in all sites of national action, in light of the national unity, cohesion, harmony, coalescence and agglutination rows. There is no way of salvation and victory out of the intensive fieldwork embodiment to the slogan of phase: unity and escalation.” (SPS)
