President Mohamed Abdelaziz felicitates his counterpart of South Sudan on Independence Day

Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), July 9, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, sent Monday a letter of congratulation to the President of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. Mr Salva Kiir Mayardit, on the occasion of first anniversary of independence, reiterating “strong resolve” to strengthen the close relations existing between the two Saharawi and South Sudanese peoples and nations.


The Saharawi President renewed “unwavering support and solidarity” with the Government and people of the Republic of South Sudan in their efforts to build and develop their nation, expressing confident that the Republic of South Sudan “will continue its steady march, under your wise leadership, towards the attainment of more development, progress and prosperity.”

Excellency and Dear Brother,


I would like to address to you this letter, on behalf of the Government and people of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and on my behalf, to extend to you and to the brotherly people of the Republic of South Sudan our most sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the independence of your sisterly country.


A year has already elapsed since the declaration of the independence of your friendly country during which time enormous and significant efforts have been made to reconstruct and develop the country in many domains. We are confident that the Republic of South Sudan will continue its steady march, under your wise leadership, towards the attainment of more development, progress and prosperity.


The historic decision taken by the Republic of South Sudan and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to extend formal recognition to each other and to establish diplomatic relations between the two sisterly countries is a momentous step towards the consolidation of the bonds of fraternity, solidarity and mutual support already existing between our two peoples and nations.


In this context, I would like to renew our unwavering support and solidarity with the Government and people of the Republic of South Sudan in their efforts to build and develop their nation, and to reiterate our strong resolve to strengthen the close relations existing between our two peoples, and to boost them to the highest possible level in the interests of our two nations and those of our continent as a whole.
