Spanish delegation starts solidarity visit to Sahrawi refugee camps

Madrid, August7,2012(SPS)  - A Spanish delegation led by President of the Spanish coordination of associations in solidarity with Western Sahara (CEAS) José Taboada startes  Tuesday a visit of solidarity to Sahrawi refugee camps.

The purpose of this four-day visit consists to reaffirm the solidarity with the Sahrawi people after the repatriation last 27 July of Spanish aid workers working in the Sahrawi refugee camps.

"We come to assess the security situation and the urgent humanitarian needs and necessary aids to provide to the Sahrawi people," Taboada said.

This delegation includes 30 personalities representing NGOs, communes and parliamentary groups showing solidarity with the Sahrawi people as well as media delegates.

It also comprises of repatriated aid workers last Saturday in addition to defenders from Catalonia, Madrid, the Basque Country and others representing 300 associations and organizations in solidarity wit the Sahrawi people in Spain.

Spanish online paper "Minuto" said Sunday that Spanish foreign ministry admitted that "the withdrawal of Spanish aid workers from Sahrawi refugee camps was an exaggerated measure."(SPS)
