New York, Sept 15, 2012 (SPS) - POLISARIO Representative to the UN, Mr. Boukhari Ahmed, underlined that the statements made Thursday by the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington, during a meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister, were “a confirmation” of the U.S. support to UN efforts for “just and durable solution to the conflict of Western Sahara.”
Mr. Boukhari told SPS that these statements constitute “a rejection to Morocco’s ambition to impose unilateral solution through its call to the proposal of autonomy,” noting that U.S. Secretary of State insisted once again on “mutually agreed-upon solution.”
“The Saharawi cause is an issue of decolonization listed on agenda of the United Nations that requires full implementation of the right of self-determination, which approved for the Saharawi people by the UN and also remains the fundamental basis of every country that respects itself, especially a power country and a permanent member of the Security Council,” confirmed the POLISARIO Representative.
“Tricks persuaded by Moroccan diplomacy behind alleged strategic dialogue to involve power countries to legitimize a colonization rejected by international community, have not yielded its expected results,” he added.
Mr. Boukhari regretted Morocco’s intransigence and insistence to go in the wrong direction, confirming that the Frente Polisario “has always granted Morocco a way out of this unfair conflict, which mortgages the present and future of everybody, including Moroccan people.” (SPS)
