Saharawi delegation attends 3rd Congress of Mauritanian UFP

Nouakchott, Dec 30, 2012 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation is attending work of the 3rd Congress of the Union of Progressive Forces of Mauritania (UFP), where he held talks on the sidelines of the Congress, said a source close to the delegation.


The delegation held talks with the President of the Union of Progressive Forces (UFP) Mr. Mohamed Ould Mouloud, Vice-President Mr. Bakary Dafa and the SG of the General Confederation of Mauritanian Workers (CGTM) Mr. Mohamed Abdallahi Ould Mohamed.


During the meeting, the Saharawi delegation briefed UFP and CGTM officials about the latest developments on the Western Sahara issue, especially after the last visit to the region and Europe by the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross.


The meeting focused on the violations of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, in southern Morocco and the Moroccan universities, as well as the bilateral relations between the UFP and the Polisario Front and the ways to develop and enhance these relations in the interest of the two brotherly peoples of Western Sahara and Mauritania.


The Saharawi delegation chaired by the Advisor to the President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Lamine Ould Ahmed, and composed of the Secretary General of the Saharwi Students Union Ahmed Lehbib Amdi and Member of National Union of Saharawi Women, Ms. Nanna Lebatt Rachid. (SPS)
