Paris, Jan 27, 2013 (SPS) - Hundreds of people, of which Sahrawi activists and representatives of the French civil society, gathered Saturday in the Trocadero square in Paris, capital of France, to “demand” the release of Saharawi political prisoners incarcerated in Moroccan jails.
Responding to a call by several associations supporting the Saharawi people, the protesters who waved, for the most of them, the national emblem of Western Sahara, affirmed their “refusal” to the organization, early February, before a military court in Morocco of the trial of 24 Saharawi political prisoners in Salé prison.
“Only one solution: release the prisoners,” protesters chanted, on the court of human rights, urging the French government, the European Union and the United Nations to act for the “release of Saharawi political prisoners”, “the end of repression and the respect of human rights in the Western Sahara’s occupied territories” and “the installation of an international monitoring mechanism of human rights in Western Sahara.” (SPS)
