Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), March 8, 2013 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the POLISARIO Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz has strongly condemned the expulsion by Moroccan governments of European MPs delegation, in a letter sent Thursday to the UN chief Ban Ki-moon.

The President called on the United Nations to rapidly act to end the manifestations of brutal repression and tight blackout being carried out by Moroccan occupation state over a territory under direct responsibility of the UN, which is listed in its list as a Non-Self-Governing Territory pending decolonization.

He reiterated his call to immediately take all necessary measures, including the various forms of sanctions, to open the occupied Western Sahara before independent international observers, who are prevented by Moroccan government from meeting the United Nations, represented by the MINURSO.

“It is illogical for the international community to not taking a tough stance regarding systematic expulsion carried out by Moroccan authorities in the case of international observers, which have been increased dramatically in recent years,” writes Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.

It is also illogical legally and morally, he added, that Moroccan occupation continues to impose a siege over the occupied Saharawi territories and bring Saharawi civilians to show courts, including unfair military trials, in a disregard to the UN Charter and resolutions.

He stressed the need to establish a UN mechanism to enable the MINURSO to protect, monitor and report about human rights, and speedily implement its mandate, which is mainly to organize a free, just and impartial referendum on self-determination for the Saharawi people.

Moroccan occupation authorities expelled Wednesday a delegation of four members of the European Union and five parliamentary assistants, heading for of the occupied city of El Aaiun, from Casablanca airport, Morocco. (SPS)
