Moscow, April 28, 2013 (SPS) - “The independence of Western Sahara is a matter of time,” said Mr. Igor Mentosov, Chairman of the Board of directors of Niccolo M, a public relations company.
“Last mid-December, I was in the Saharawi refugee camps, where I visited Saharawi institutions and met with officials of the Polisario Front and Saharawi state. I returned to Russia with a firm conclusion that the independence of the Western Sahara is only a matter of time, it will happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. More importantly, it is sure," Mr. Mentosov told the press after his meeting with POLISARIO Front’s Representative in Russia Dr. Ali Salem Mohamed Fadel.
He added that he will work hard to make more efforts to enlighten the Russian public opinion of what is happening in Western Sahara.
From his part, the Saharawi diplomat informed the Russian expert about the content of recent Security Council resolution 2099 (2013), which affirms the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and raises the UN Organization’s concern regarding the situation of human rights, has always been perpetuated by Morocco in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
He went on saying that Morocco’s fears of including human rights mechanism within MINURSO mandates in the occupied Western Sahara is “irrefutable evidence” of the human rights violations by Moroccan state in occupied Western Sahara.
“Morocco’s fears confirm the findings of several international organizations of human rights such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights,” added Dr. Ali Salem. (SPS)
