Emilia Romagna (Italy), July 03, 2013 (SPS)- The Minister of Cooperation Brahim Mokhtar, was received on Tuesday, along with the Polisario Front representative to Italy Omih Omar, by the president of the Parliament the region of Emilia Romagna, Vilma Costi.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the current situation in the refugee camps and the impact of the global economic crisis and the human rights situation in the occupied territories and the need for the existence of a protecting mechanism.
The President of Parliament reiterated the supporting position of Emilia Romagna for the struggle of the Saharawi people, as well as the continuity of the projects financed by the region in the Saharawi refugee camps, especially in the areas of Health, Education and Environment.
"We reaffirm our support for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination. The right that they have been fighting for for many years," she said.
Cooperation Minister, Brahim Mokhtar urged his Italian partners on the need to seek joint projects, especially in youth employment sector. (SPS)
