SADR takes part at the African Conference on the development of the role of teachers in Africa

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), July 18, 2013 (SPS)- A Saharawi delegation led by the Minister of Education, Mrs. Mariem Essalek, participated Tuesday in the activities of the Third African Conference on developing the role of teachers of the African continent in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

 

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Education of African States, officials of the Commission of the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities.

 

The conference witnessed the presence of Representatives of UNESCO, UNICEF, the African Development Bank (ADB), African universities, institutes of international professional development of teachers, research institutions, organizations of civil society and independent experts .

 

The discussions during the conference covered the importance of professional development for teachers in Africa, strengthening their role in the achievement of the learning objective in the continent, and developing a framework for regional qualification for teachers.

 

On the sidelines, Education minister held talks with senior officials of the AU Commission on bilateral relations and political developments of the Saharawi question, as well as the humanitarian situation in Western Sahara.

 

The Saharawi delegation is composed of the experts in the Ministry of Education, Essalek Sidahmed Omar and Entrusted with task at the Embassy of the SADR and the Permanent Mission in the African Union in Addis Ababa, Omar Baba El-Bardi. (SPS)
