President of Republic calles for UN intervention after expulsion of a Sahrawi athlete by Morocco

Bir Lahlou (liberated territories),July 25,2013(SPS)- the President of Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, Secretary-General of the POLISARIO Front, has called today, Thursday, on the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon to intervene with Morocco to end their "flagrant violations of human rights and the immediate repeal of the decision of expulsion of Sahrawi athlete Salah Edin Ameidan, allowing him to visit his country," Western Sahara.

 

President Mohamed Abdelaziz has requested that the Saharawi athlete meet with his family and checks about the health of his father.

 

The President has claimed that this type of practice is repeated by Morocco against Salah Ameidan who had been expelled once before from the city of Marrakech, Morocco, on June 14, 2012.

 

President Mohamed Abdelaziz recalled that the Sahrawi activist Haidar had underwent a similar situation, on November 13, 2009  when she was expelled from the occupied capital of  Laiun by Moroccan occupation authorities.

 

Salah Ameidan traveled last July 17, 2013 from the Canary Islands to the occupied city of Laiun, in order to visit his family and meet his father who is in a serious state of health as a result of failure chronic kidney.

 

"I had been taken to the airport building where I was subjected, for two hours, to multiple insults and abuse towards me and the Saharawi people, where a strong debate took place after I have been banned from entering the city"Ameidan denounced in a statement.

 

The athlete who raised the flag of the Saharawi Republic in several international events, said, "then I was taken by force to the plane over which I came, delaying its departure for seventy minutes." (SPS)
