Sahrawi Government calles on international community to force Morocco to comply with legitimacy

Submitted on

Bir Lahlou (liberated territories), July 30, 2013 (SPS) - The Sahrawi government has called on the international community to force Morocco to comply with legitimacy and respect for its decisions, after  what has been stated in the speech of Morocco's King on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the throne.

"The speech of Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the throne came charged with a language of intransigence and insistence on devoting illegal occupation for Western Sahara at any cost, and it did not carry what indicates the presence of political will to support the efforts of the United Nations to find a just and lasting solution to this conflict", Said a statement issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Information in the Sahrawi Government

"The speech’s tendency to the interpretation of the recent Security Council resolution and loading it with what it cannot, in complete disregard for its explicit call on the parties to the conflict, Morocco and the Polisario Front to cooperate in order to find an agreed solution ensures the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, which in fact reflects Morocco’s lack of political will to support efforts of the United Nations and the Security Council and the efforts of the Secretary-General and his personal Envoy. "

" the King of Morocco has ignored, in his speech, the reports of international and regional human rights organizations, which revealed his egregious violations of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and declared its support for the establishment of UN mechanism to monitor and report on the human rights situation there, reflecting the will of Morocco to continue its oppressive besiege of the occupied territories of Western Sahara and the continuation of violations of human rights out of sight, "the statement adds.

The statement stressed that the devoting will of the occupation of Western Sahara by force will be faced by the Sahrawi resistance and steadfastness and absolute rejection of the Moroccan occupation and that the language of threats and intimidation will not scare them off.

The statement called on Morocco to reconsider its policies before it is too late, “which has become by occupying  Western Sahara, constitutes a threat to the sovereignty of neighboring countries, through the logic of expansion, and to its peoples through drugs, and to its economy through smuggling and to its national security by supporting networks of organized crime, illegal immigration, terrorism, and an obstacle to the unity of their eager people to build the Maghreb Union” the statement says (SPS)
