Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Aug 19, 2013 (SPS) - The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has expressed surprise and regret over the Spanish Government’s biased positions to Moroccan expansionist thesis, urging it to assume “its historic, legal and ethical responsibilities” in Western Sahara.
In a communiqué concluded its 6th regular session on Sunday, the National Secretariat expressed “surprise and regret” over of the Spanish Government’s biased positions to the Moroccan colonial expansionist thesis in Western Sahara, calling on it to assume, with courage, its “historic, legal and ethical” responsibilities for the suffering it caused in 1975.
The statement, in this context, asked Spanish Government to “explicitly support” the efforts for a just solution ensuring the right of the Saharawi people to freedom and independence.
Recalled its position of support to the efforts of the United Nations for the decolonization of Western Sahara and to enable the Saharawi people to exercise their inalienable right to freedom and independence through a free, just and impartial UN referendum, the National Secretariat reiterated its willingness to continue the “constructive cooperation” with Mr. Christopher Ross, Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General, calling for speedily implementing the pertinent Security Council resolutions.
The communiqué “highly praised” the principled firm position of the brotherly Algeria, government and people, under leadership of His Excellency the President and Mujahid (struggler) Abdelaziz Bouteflika, with the struggle of Saharawi people and their right to self-determination and independence, in full and strict respect to the requirements of international legitimacy.
It, therefore, hailed the advanced position of the African Union, expressing thanks and appreciation to the governments, parliaments, associations and personalities across the world supporting the just cause of the Saharawi people, thanking in particular the solidarity movement in Spain and Europe, in addition to the courage positions in Morocco.
Deplored the dishonorable endeavours for the greedy exploitation of Saharawi natural resources and using this international issue as a card swap with Moroccan occupation state at the expense of law, ethics and legitimate rights of the Saharawi people, the National Secretariat called on states of the European Union to refrain from adopting the fishing agreement that includes Western Sahara’s territory, signed between Morocco and European Commission.
It also appealed to the European institutions to prevent these operations of looting and plundering, because it will constitute a blatant breach to the international law and disregard to the principles and values the EU established on, it is also another obstruction to the efforts of peaceful solution, which thwarts Maghreb integration and Euro-Maghreb partnership.
The National Secretariat, on other hand, congratulated the people of Mali on the election of a new president, calling for intensifying African and international efforts aimed at consolidating security and peace in the sisterly Republic of Mali.
It, in this respect, expressed readiness of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) for effective contribution in the success of these efforts.
It warned of the serious consequences caused by the increasing flow of drugs from Morocco, the largest producer and exporter of cannabis in the world and the link close and growing link between this oriented and systematic circulation of these lethal poisons and organized crime gangs and terrorist groups.
