Boumerdes (Algeria), Aug 25, 2013 (SPS) - Prime Minister Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar asked Sunday, from Boumerde, France to “take a positive stance, consistent with its international status, vis-à-vis the Saharawi cause.”

“France must take a positive stance vis-à-vis the Saharawi cause, in line with its international status and its responsibilities as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, entrusted with maintaining international legitimacy,” said the Saharawi Prime Minister Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, in a speech delivered Sunday at the closing ceremony of the 4th Summer University of Saharawi Cadres read on his behalf by the Minister of Education Ms. Mariam Salek Hmada.

He, on other hand, urged Spain to “bravely assume its historic, legal and moral responsibilities to end the tragedy it caused for the Saharawi people,” calling it to “explicitly support the efforts being made to find a just solution to the Saharawi cause ensuring the right of the Saharawi people to freedom and independence.”

He, in the same regard, regretted for the positions of Spanish government, which are biased to the Moroccan expansionist thesis, despite the clarity of the legal status of the territory of Western Sahara and the legitimacy of the struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence. (SPS)
