Ait Melloul (Morocco), Sept 7, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi political prisoner Omar Daoudi launched yesterday, Friday, an open hunger strike in the Moroccan Ait Melloul’s local prison, according to a human rights source.

Family of the detainee reported that her son entered into this hunger strike as a protest to the degrading ill-treatment practices he suffers inside the prison, the same source said.

It should be recalled that Omar Daoudi was arrested along with his brother, Taha Daoudi, on 7 August 2013 at his family’s house in Guelmim.

They have been sentenced to 10 years in prison. (SPS)
