On 20th anniversary: Norwegian Support Committee for Western Sahara continues to support Saharawis’ struggle

Oslo, Nov 5, 2013 (SPS) - The Norwegian Support Committee for Western Sahara has reaffirmed its support to the struggle of the Saharawis people, in a ceremony organized on Monday in Oslo, capital of Norway, to mark its 20th anniversary.


The ceremony was attended by memebers of the Committee, as well as Norwegian parliamentarians, politicians and civil society activists.
Petitioners valued the work done by the Committee since its inception in 1993 for the Saharawis people, stressing the role it played to defend the Saharawis cause.


Speaking during this ceremony, Polisario Front’s Representative in Norway Dr. Limam Khalil expressed Saharawi people’s gratitude for the efforts being made by the Committee and all friends of the Saharawis people inside Norway to aware about the Saharawi cause.


"There is still a lot of work to be done. The ultimate goal of the liberation march still that of enabling the Saharawi people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and independence," underlined Saharawi diplomat.


The Norwegian Support Committee for Western Sahara was formed on 1 November 1993, in the aim to provide support for the legitimate right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, as stated in several UN Security Council resolutions. (SPS)
