Submitted on

Algiers, Nov 5, 2013 (SPS) - Secretary General of the Union of Youth of Saguia el Hamra and Rio de Oro (UJSARIO), Mousa Salma, called Tuesday from Algiers on the Moroccan regime to “comply with international law and to enable the Saharawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.”

Mr. Mousa Salma, who leads a delegation at the Arab Youth Congress in Algiers, said that the participation of a Saharawi delegation is an opportunity to defend the just Saharawi cause and to call on the Arab youth to urge Morocco to respect international law in Western Sahara.

He, in this regard, asked Moroccan regime to release all Saharawi political prisoners and to “stop the looting of Saharawi natural resources, urging the international community to “act quickly to find a UN mechanism to monitor and protect human rights in the Western Sahara cities.”

The Saharawi official demanded that UJSARIO be a member of the Arab Forum which is a non-governmental Arab organization established in 1981 and based in Amman (Jordan), a request welcomed by the participants at this congress.

This congress is part of the celebration of 59th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution, in the presence of youth delegations from 19 Arab countries, including Palestine and Western Sahara, in addition to national and Arab intellectual institutions. (SPS)
