Shaheed El-Hafedh (Saharawi Refugee Camps), November 25, 2013 (SPS) - Saharawi refugees’ humanitarian issue can only be settled through a "political" and a "definitive" solution, the chairman of the Saharawi Red Crescent, Buhobeini Yahia, told APS.

The Saharawi humanitarian issue cannot be settled without a "political" and a "definitive" solution through a referendum on self-determination, in line with the international legality," Buhobeini told APS in an interview.

He stressed that the needs of the last World Food Programme (WFP), from 1 January 2013 to 30 June 2014, has been met by 80 percent, mainly through the United States’ contribution, estimated at more than seven million dollars.

Saharawi refugees, especially the most vulnerable, are still suffering from nutritional deficiency.

The needs for the aforementioned period is valued at about USD36 million and more than 40,000 in staples, the Saharawi Red Crescent officials said. (SPS)
