Morocco impedes Ross efforts to solve Western Sahara conflict, confirms President Mohamed Abdelaziz

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Jan 06, 2013 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, said that Morocco “impedes the ongoing efforts of Christopher Ross to find a solution to the Western Sahara conflict,” in a speech delivered at the conclusion of the annual conference of Saharawi diplomacy.


President Mohamed Abdelaziz recalled that Morocco “has previously withdrew confidence from Ross then reversed its decision,” adding that Morocco “has always stood against any peaceful solution to Saharawi cause, through the organization of a referendum on self-determination for the Saharawi people.”


He noted that Morocco “flops in its decisions” and the Moroccan King has admitted that his policy in dealing with the conflict has failed, adding that Morocco faces international isolation because of “ its violations of human rights in Western sahara and Morocco ,its refusal to comply with international legitimacy and its drug trafficking.”


He pointed out that the super powers became changing their positions in the conflict from supporting Morocco to impartially and “ looking for a fair solution “ citing the last position of USA , Britain and others in the Security Council of the United Nations, highlighting that this development is resulting to the Saharawi struggle and its peaceful resistance in the occupied territories.


“This change is similar to what happened to the ANC in South Africa, which was regarded as a terrorist organization and involve their leaders in prison and attacked its bases in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique amid the complicity and silence and the blessing of the Great Powers, but things have changed and the struggle of the African National Congress and its leader, Nelson Mandela, became a model and appreciated by the whole world . ”


President Mohamed Abdelaziz, appreciated victories that achieved by the Saharawi diplomacy during the previous year, stressing that the status of the Saharawi state are being continuously enhanced and the Polisario Front have respected international reputation.


President Mohamed Abdelaziz, on other hand, explained that Morocco was and still betting on the support of the European countries and complicity in the looting of resources of Western Sahara, calling on the EU to review the fishing agreement signed with Morocco and to contribute to be a party to solve the issue of Western Sahara, in line with the international resolutions.
