London (UK) March 23, 2014 (SPS) - The Western Sahara Campaign UK organised Saturday a demonstration in front of the Moroccan embassy in London to denounce the dire human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
The demonstration also called for the expansion of the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to include human rights monitoring and enabling the Saharawi people of their right to self-determination.
The demonstrators handed a letter of protest to the Moroccan ambassador in which they expressed their condemnation to Moroccan violations of human rights on daily bases against Sahrawi people.
The demonstration falls within the international campaign to expand the prerogatives of MINURSO, launched last month at the initiative of the Western Sahara Action Forum which includes several associations and organizations among them the Western Sahara Campaign UK, it should be recalled. (SPS)
