Polisario Front adhered to fight by all legitimate means (communiqué)

Submitted on

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), May 6, 2014 (SPS) - “Frente Polisario is adhered to the strategic option of struggle through all legitimate means so that the Saharawi people be able to exercise their right to self-determination,” indicated a communiqué issued Monday at the end of the 8th session of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front.

Chaired by the President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, the National Secretariat renewed Polisario Front’s willingness to cooperate with the UN efforts, welcoming the UN Secretary General’s report and Security Council’s affirming on the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

The communiqué, in this respect, called upon the Saharawi people to intensify the legitimate resistance, support the Intifada (uprising) of Independence and face the enemy’s plots, by further closing raws, conslidating the institutions and implementing the national programmes.

It “strongly” deplored and condemned Moroccan state’s practices, mainly its brutal repression, intimidation, kidnapping, arbitrary arrests, show trials and unfair judgments.

Hailing the growing pace of international solidarity with the Intifada of Independence, the communiqué condemned once again Morocco’s siege imposed over the occupied Saharawi territories and its systematic expulsion of international observers.

Such practices, said the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, documented by international organizations including Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights, emphasizes the “urgent need” to establish an international mechanism to protect, monitor and report about human rights in Western Sahara.

Recalling to the national and international campaign for the release of Saharawi political prisoners, the communiqué held the international community responsible for ending such unjust imprisonment, as a positive step in the direction of creating appropriate atmosphere for the success of the peace process in Western Sahara.

Polisario Front, once again, drew the attention of the international community to the need to dismantle the Moroccan military wall, which constitutes a crime against humanity, calling on the UN to intervene immediately to halt the illegal exploitation of Western Sahara natural resources by Moroccan occupying state.

It, in this regard, called on the European Union (EU) to cancel at once the fisheries agreement with Morocco, which does not exclude the territorial waters of Western Sahara.

It, on other hand, warned, with deep concern, of the increasing serious flow of Moroccan drugs into occupied Western Sahara and neighbouring countries, adding it plays pivotal role in funding and encouraging organized-crime gangs and terrorist groups, and thus it is a direct threat to peace and security in the Sahel region and North Africa.
