Saharawi children celebrate African Child Day under the yoke of colonialism, says Brahim Ghali

Algiers, June 16, 2014 (SPS) - “The Saharawi children celebrate the International Day of the African Child like all children of the continent in spite of being deprived by the Moroccan occupation from their right to happiness,” said Monday in Algiers the Saharawi Ambassador in Algiers Mr. Brahim Ghali.

In a statement to the Algerian Press Service (APS) during a ceremony held in Oued Koreich (Algiers) to mark the International Day of the African Child, the Saharawi ambassador said that the practices of the Moroccan occupier against the Saharawis has affected the children of an entire people.

“Despite these practices, the Saharawi children cherish the hope to live free in their country in peace and stability, like their peers around the globe,” he added.

Recalling that Western Sahara is the last colony in Africa, the Saharawi diplomat said that the SADR is ready to ensure a dignified and decent life to its displaced children once independence is obtained.

He, therefore, indicated that the right to life, education, health and decent living is still out of reach of Western Sahara children, like many of their peers in a number of African countries that suffer from the ravages of armed conflicts.

Like all the Saharawi people, underlined Brahim Ghali, the Saharawi child is attached to the right of self-determination. (SPS)
