Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura), September 14, 2014 (SPS) - The current mayor of Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura), Marcial Morales Martín, reiterated the support for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, during a reception to the Polisario Front representative in the Canary Islands, Hamdi Barai.
The Polisario Front representative was also received at the headquarters of the municipality of La Oliva by its mayor, Claudina Morales, who also reiterated the support for the right of the Saharawi people.
The meetings was an occasion for the Saharawi representative to address the achievements of the Saharawi people over these years of struggle in the political, diplomatic and social fields.
The Saharawi representative also discussed the latest developments in the Saharawi question, particularly the organization of referendum for self-determination of the Saharawi people and the Moroccan obstacles.
The parties also discussed the situation of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and the plight of the Sahrawi refugee population. SPS
