Assassination of Saharawi activist Hassena El Ouali: CNASPS denounces "despicable" crime

Submitted on

Algiers, October 2, 2014 (SPS) - Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Saharawi people (CNASPS) Wednesday denounced a "disguised murder", a "heinous crime" against the Sahrawi human rights activist, Hassena El Ouali, after being tortured for a long time by Moroccan police at the prison of Dakhla, in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

"The CNASPS denounces this umpteenth crime by the occupying Moroccan forces in the Western Sahara, which, once again, give the whole world their full extent of the non-respect of human rights and various charters relating thereto," the CNASPS said in a statement.

"The Kingdom of Morocco shows arrogance and contempt regarding the multiple condemnations its occupying administration received since many years from the entire international community, institutions, governments and NGOs, " the same source added.

The Committee believes Morocco "continues to trample on several UN resolutions that recognize the Saharawi people's right to freely choose their destiny and benefit from a referendum for self-determination, with the most complete impunity."

Also, CNASPS calls on the international community to condemn "this heinous crime and so as it forces Morocco to respect human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara." (SPS)
