Chahid Al Hafad, October 12, 2014 (SPS)- The Egyptian Political Dr. Hassan Nafaa has stressed, during two day visit to the Saharawi refugee camps, that “the issue of Western Sahara is an issue of decolonization, and the Saharawi people should enjoy the right to self-determination”.

He added, during a lecture last Thursday at the Media Archive dealt with the current Arab situation, the scene of Egypt and the Saharawi cause that Morocco has no sovereignty over Western Sahara, and that the issue is supported by the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). He also noted that Moroccan allegations are contrary with the ICJ advisory opinion, which provides for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination as non-sovereignty territories.

The Egyptian Political expressed his admiration for the Saharawi experience, which proves the ability to build an independent state that respects the principles of human rights and free elections.

“Despite the ignorance of the Arab people towards the details of the Saharawi cause, but the recent referendums that happened in different places around the world, are a clear message to respect the choices of people to self-determination”.

He also highlighted that the reason behind the collapse of Arab regimes is the lack of respect for the choices of their people.

It should be noted that Dr. Nafaa received the State Incentive Award in Political Science in 1998. He was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Faculty Club of the University of Cairo. He was also elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs and was an advisor to the International Politics journal issued by the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies.
