ECOSOCC hails strong engagement of Saharawi civil society to its elections

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Oct 14, 2014 (SPS) - The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) has hailed the collaboration and strong engagement of Saharawi civil society to participate in its elections, to be held in November.


In a statement issued at the end of the visit of the AU Sensitization and Motivation Campaign in the Saharawi Republic (SADR), Head of the AUC Civil Society Division Mr. Jalel Chelba highly appreciated the efforts made by SADR to ensure the success of the AU mission at the official and public levels.


In the aim to spread awareness about the objectives of the Council and forthcoming elections, ECOCOCC delegation met with members of the Saharawi government, representatives of civil society organizations.


During these meeting, the delegation focused on the importance of taking part at the forthcoming elections.


ECOSOCC is composed of 150 organizations representing civil society movements from all Member States of the African Union.


The delegation visited the SADR from 11 until 13 October 2014. (SPS)
