Submitted on

Algiers, Oct 27, 2014 (SPS) - The President of the Republic of Namibia, Mr. Hifikepunye Pohamba, reiterated recently in Brazzaville, capital of Congo, his country’s call for an implementation of all the United Nations’ resolutions on Western Sahara, recalling that this region is the last colony in Africa.

In a dinner hosted in his honor last Wednesday by the President of the Republic of Congo, Mr. Denis Sassou Nguesso, the Namibian President on a working visit to Brazzaville, lamented for the fact that Western Sahara remains the last colony in the African continent.

“Today, with the exception of Western Sahara, Africa is liberated from the oppression of colonialism and apartheid,” said Mr. Pohamba, reiterating Namibia’s call for the implementation of all UN resolutions on Western Sahara.

Registered since 1963 in the UN list of Non-Self-Governing Territories, Western Sahara is the last colony in Africa, occupied by Morocco since 1975 with the support of France.(SPS)
