Dilma Rousseff re-elected to second term in office

Brasilia, Oct 27, 2014 (SPS) - President of Brazil, Ms. Dilma Rousseff, has been re-elected to a second term in office ending in 2018.


Ms. Rousseff won the presidential elections in Brazil with 51.45 percent of the general number of voters, while the Social-Democrat candidate Aécio Neves got 48.55% of the vote.


In a speech delivered following poll win, the re-elected President of Brazil pledged to make the big changes the Brazilian society requires, according to Prensa Latina.


In another context, Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies called last September on President Dilma Rousseff to recognize the Saharawi Republic (SADR), urging the Brazilian government to take a clear position on the question of Western Sahara. (SPS)
