Moscow, Nov 6, 2014 (SPS) - Several Russian figures on Thursday denounced human rights violations being perpetuated by Morocco against the Saharawi civilians in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, calling for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.
In a meeting with the Polisario Front’s Representative in Moscow Dr. Ali Salem Mohamed Fadel, Russian personalities said that Morocco is repeating the same violations and practices carried out by old colonialism against peoples of the Third World.
Deploring the acts of kidnapping and torture targeting the Saharawi people, they criticized the ineffectiveness and failure of the international community to defend its resolutions.
These personalities are; Mr. Igor Mintusov, chairman of Russia’s biggest public relations company, Mr. Said Gafurov, a journalist specialized in Arab affairs and editorial director of a periodical magazine, Mr. Fyodor Lukyanov, editor-in-chief of the journal “Russia in Global Affairs”, and Mr. Yevgeny Grigoryevich Yasin, an academic supervisor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Ms. Elena Matveeva, general director of foreign language schools’ network, Mr. Olga Timofeeva and Mr. Sergey Petrov, members of parliaments, as well as the director of Rolf automotive company and businessmen.
The meeting was an opportunity for Saharawi diplomat to focus on the peaceful resistance waged by Saharawi people in occupied Western Sahara and Morocco’s plunder of Saharawi natural resources. (SPS)
