London, Nov 6, 2014 (SPS) - The British association “Olive Branch Arts” has launched a new book on Saharawi culture under the title “Saharawi Spirit: People, Proverbs and Poems”, which sheds light on poetry and proverbs of the Saharawi people, said a statement of the Association.
For Olive Branch Arts, the book illustrates the positive spirit of the Saharawi people and celebrates the uniqueness of their culture, in the aim to inspire others in the UK to find out more about the Saharawi people and their cause. The book is a culmination of the extensive documentation made by Associate Artist, Emma Brown, during the past 2 years.
It contains a number of traditional proverbs collected from local elders, as well as some Saharawi poets.
The statement went on saying that the book has been endorsed by a number of prominent authors, academics and public figures, of which Stephen Zunes, Jacob Mundy, Carne Ross and Alice Wilson of Cambridge University.
The Association stated that they have been collaborating with Frente POLISARIO office to UK and the Saharawi authorities since 2010, through delivering theatre-training programmes to young people between the ages of 16-25.
To launch the book, Olive Branch Arts held a photographic exhibition at the Camden Collective Pop Up in London between the 27th of October and the 1st of November 2014.
On the occasion, Polisario Front Representative to the UK, Mohamed Limam Mohamed Ali, thanked Olive Branch Arts for its great work aimed at spreading awareness about the suffering and struggle of the Saharawi people throughout UK. (SPS)
