Saharawi human rights activist Aminetou Haidar received by German Bundestag Vice President

 Berlin (Germany), December 18, 2014 (SPS) - Saharawi human rights activist, Aminetou Haidar was received Tuesday in Berlin by the Vice-President of the German Bundestag (parliament), Mrs. Adelgard Pullman.

 

The meeting addressed the Moroccan violations of human rights committed against the Saharawi people in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, and the situation of Saharawi political prisoners languishing in Moroccan prisons, particularly the Gdim Izik group sentenced by a Moroccan martial court to heavy penalties ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment.

 

 The meeting discussed the state of military and security blockade in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, where more than 53 international observers were expelled during the last year.

 

Aminetou Haidar also addressed the plight of Sahrawi refugees, stressing the importance of increasing international humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the refugees.

 

Furthermore, she met with political and legal associations in Germany. (SPS)
