New attack on Saharawi journalists by Moroccan authorities

Aaiún (Occupied Territories), January 31, 2015 (SPS) - A group of Sahrawi journalists were attacked, Wednesday in the occupied city of Aaiún, by the Moroccan authority while they were recording a programme on the peaceful Intifada, according to Sahrawi media sources on the scene.  

 

The concerned group included Mohamed Mayara, Zayou Abdelrahmane, Fatimatou Dahouar, the producer/director of the programme and Chief of Technical Services of Équipe Média, Mamine Hachimi, Mohamed Saleh Zerouali and Leili Hamoud, who were insulted and subjected to ill-treatment, said the source.

 

 During the programme, the Moroccan General Intelligence Services surrounded the house of Sahrawi journalist Fatimatou Dahouar where the recording took place, more than twenty Moroccan police cars were there, in addition to the Moroccan Pasha of occupied El Aaiún, added the source.

 

It is not the first time that the Moroccan police attack Sahrawi journalists due to their media activities in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, it should be recalled.  (SPS)
