Shaheed Elhafed (Refugee Camps), March 24, 2015 (SPS) - The Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Western Sahara, Christopher Ross,  held Tuesday a meeting with members of the Polisario Front  negotiating delegation, at the official reception in Shaheed Elhafed, Sahrawi refugee camps.

Member of the negotiating delegation Mr. Bukhari Ahmed indicated in a statement to the national media that "This visit comes in the framework of the preparation to submit the report to the UN Security Council, stressing that the presence of Ross in the refugee camps proves the seriousness of the United Nations in finding a solution to the Sahrawi issue.

“It’s time to exert pressure on Morocco to comply with the international legitimacy,” added the Sahrawi official, underlining that "all countries have the conviction that Morocco stand as an obstacle in front of the UN efforts to solve this problem.”

“The Sahrawi part calls for free and just referendum and the need to monitor the situation of human rights in the occupied territories,” he further added.

Ross’s visit will last for three days, during which he will hold meetings with members of Polisario Front leadership. (SPS)
