Shaheed Elhafed (Refugee Camps), March 31, 2015 (SPS) - The Government of the SADR and the Polisario Front has called on the United Nations Security Council to support the decisions of the African Union, in its capacity as the first partner of the United Nations in the peace process in Western Sahara, said Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek in a press conference in Algiers.

The Saharawi Government called on the Security Council to consider the latest communiqué of the African Union Peace and Security Council in which it asked the United Nations Security Council to "make every effort to speed up the process of decolonization in Western Sahara ".

On this occasion, the SADR Government and the Polisario Front welcomed the AU tireless efforts in accordance with international legitimacy, all AU decisions, which have been ratified by the United Nations and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the question of Western Sahara, according to the same source.

The Saharawi Government also reiterated the readiness of the Saharawi party to cooperate in "positive" manner as it has always shown in its relations with the UN and the AU to enable the Saharawi people to exercise their inalienable rights self-determination and independence.

He also reiterated the commitment of the Saharawi party to the agreements signed with Morocco under the auspices of the UN and the OAU (AU) and its commitment to the implementation and the results of the referendum, estimating that new delays or postponements of the referendum for which MINURSO was established in 1991 "could only lead the situation to square one."

The Foreign Minister said that the decision of the AU PSC expresses once again the determination of the continental organization to eliminate the last bastions of colonialism and its consequences on the continent, as well as the defense of the noble principles of the rights of peoples to self-determination and respect for the borders inherited from the colonial era.

The PSC has asked the UN Security Council to "make every effort to ensure the rapid and effective implementation of relevant UN decisions and the OAU / AU, before leading quickly to the organization of a self-determination referendum for the people of Western Sahara ", after a meeting last Friday in which he reviewed the report of the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, on the evolution of the peace process in Western Sahara, it should be recalled.
