Algeria, US support Security Council Resolution 2152 on Western Sahara

Washington (US), April 10, 2015 (SPS) - Algeria and the United States have expressed support to UN Security Council Resolution 2152 about Western Sahara, making commitment to assisting the parties to the conflict (the Polisario Front and Morocco) in reaching a "just, lasting and mutually acceptable (political solution), ensuring self-determination for Western Sahara people."

                                                                        

In a statement released at the end of the thirds session of the Algeria-United States Strategic Dialogue, held Wednesday in Washington, the two countries "expressed support to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2152, making commitment to helping the parties (to the conflict) to reach a just, lasting and mutually acceptable (political solution), ensuring self-determination of Western Sahara people, in line with the principles and goals mentioned in the UN Charter."

 

The third session the Algeria-United States Strategic Dialogue was co-chaired by Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra and US Secretary of State John Kerry. (SPS)
