Submitted on

Bamako, April 14, 2015 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation, headed by the Minister Delegate for Africa Hamdi Baiha, participated in a seminar organized in Bamako, capital of Mali, by the Socialist International Africa Committee to tackle security situation and development in the African continent.

The meeting was devoted to assess security, conflicts, development and democracy in Africa, and to find ways to consolidate peace and security in the continent.

The Saharawi minister seized the opportunity to update the audience about the recent developments on the Saharawi cause, particularly Morocco’s obstructions to the UN-led efforts to bring about a peaceful solution to the conflict of Western Sahara.

At the seminar, the official met with the Secretary General of the Socialist International and the President of Africa Committee, in addition to a number of participating African delegations.

At the conclusion of meeting, SI expressed support to the legitimate struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence, deciding to dispatch a delegation to both to the occupied and liberated territory of Western Sahara. (SPS)
