Autonomous University of Madrid hosts IX Days on Western Sahara

 Madrid, May 10, 2015 (SPS) - The Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) hosted May 8-9, the IX Days on Western Sahara with the participation of Madrid's public universities to sensitize the society on social, cultural, political and human realities of the Saharawi people.

 

These IX Days on Western Sahara were coordinated by the Department of Cooperation and University Extension through the Action of Solidarity and Cooperation Bureau. They will be attended by the University of Alcalá, Universidad Carlos III, Complutense University, Madrid Polytechnic University, Rey Juan Carlos University and the Autonomous University of Madrid.

 

 The event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, along with the Dean of the UAM, José M. Sanz, besides Fernando Suarez, Carlos Conde and Juan Romo, respectively from Universities of Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid Polytechnic and Carlos III.

 

It aim at creating a space for reflection and social debate by calling the different parties and stakeholders involved in the process of decolonization of Western Sahara, as explained by the UAM in a statement. SPS
