Documentary "Life is Waiting: Referendum and Resistance in Western Sahara" screened in Washington

Washington DC, 1 August, 2015 (SPS) - The documentary about Saharawi struggle "Life is Waiting: Referendum and Resistance in Western Sahara" was screened to a packed crowd this Thursday night in Washington DC.

 

The movie portraits the situation of the Saharawi people under occupation and the lessons of the Saharawi nonviolent resistance.

 

 The screening of the documentary was sponsored by US organizations to raise awareness about the Western Sahara conflict and to show solidarity with the Saharawi people against 40 years of Moroccan Occupation of the territory.

 

The documentary had a very positive reception in an audience that included human rights lawyers and academics who steered a very dynamic and informative discussion about the current situation of the conflict.

 

 Directed by Iara Lee, "Life is Waiting: Referendum and Resistance in Western Sahara" is a 2015 release from Cultures of Resistance Films.

 

 The documentary is currently screening at film festivals around the world. (SPS)
