Boujdour (refugee camps), August 7, 2015 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz on Thursday morning oversaw a ceremony to honour the Saharawi students who earned the baccalaureate degree this year, in the presence of the prime minister, minister of education, and other members of the government and Polisario Front's National Secretariat.
In her speech on the occasion, Minister of Education Ms. Mariam Salek Hmada congratulated 2014-2015 baccalaureate holders, in particular those Saharawi political prisoners who obtained the degree from behind Moroccan occupation's bars.
She also called on the Saharawi students to take responsibility in spreading the national cause and mobilize universities' solidarity and support to the cause.
Secretary General of Saharawi Students Union (UESARIO) Moulay Mhamad, for his part, praised the policy pursued by the Polisario Front to invest in huuman individuals, which resulted in a huge number of university graduates and postgraduate diploma-holders in scientific areas.
President Mohamed Abdelaziz handed over recognition certificates and symbolic awards to the first 30 students in the list.
It is to be recalled that a total of 564 students (51 percentage) have this year obtained the baccalaureate degree, of which 370 in Algeria, 185 in Spain and the community in Algeria, 10 from the community in Mauritania. (SPS)
