Ross meets with members of Saharawi negotiating delegation

Shaheed Hafed (Refugee Camps), Sept 5, 2015 (SPS) - Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, held Saturday a working session with members of the Polisario Front negotiating delegation, in Shaheed Hafed, Sahrawi refugee camps.

 

 Member of the negotiating delegation Mr. Bukhari Ahmed affirmed in a statement to the media that "this visit comes as part of an effort to resume negotiations between the parties to the conflict, the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco, stressing that the main obstruction to the efforts undertaken by the United Nations and the Security Council comes from the Moroccan regime".

 

The Saharawi official underlined, "it's time to exercise effective pressure on Morocco to comply with international legitimacy," adding that "all countries recognize the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination."

 

The Polisario Front representative to the United Nations considered resolving the issue of Western Sahara will contribute to the establishment of security in the region.

 

During the visit which lasts three days, the UN envoy will hold meetings with officials of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi government. (SPS)
