POLISARIO Front attends Annual Congress of Danish Social Democrat Party

Copenhagen (Denmark), Sept 21, 2015 – The Representative of the POLISARIO Front to Denmark, Mr. Abba Malainin attended the annual Congress of the Danish Social Democrat Party held from Saturday 19th, to Sunday 20th, September in the City of Aalborg in the Northern part of Denmark, at an official invitation by the Party.

 

The Congress opening Speech was made by the new leader of the Party, Mette Frederiksen.

 

Foreign delegations attending the Congress were briefed by various officials of Danish Social Democratic Party about an array of issues such as Social Democratic development policy and tackling present humanitarian crisis, the new role of their party in the opposition, priorities for Danish Social Democrats in the European Parliament, Social Democratic Foreign policy, analysis of the Danish elections and the Social Democratic Campaign and the International Social Democratic solidarity work.

 

The POLISARIO Front Representative met with officials from the Social Democrat Party and with various foreign participating delegations from Norway, Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Palestine and Swaziland.

 

The Danish Social Democratic Party is among the majority parties in the Danish parliament that among other things support the right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination through a referendum under aegis of the United Nations also supports MINURSO’s human rights mandate to monitor human rights in Western Sahara.

 

It is worth noting that the Danish Social Democrat Party is the biggest actual party in the opposition with 47 MPs and it was until last June the main party in the coalition Government in Denmark. (SPS)
