Madrid, 15 Nov 2015 (SPS) - The participants in the 40th International Conference for Support and Solidarity with Sahrawi People called on Saturday evening in Madrid the international community to make further pressure on the Moroccan occupier and the Spanish government to end this illegal occupation of Sahrawi territories.

According to the final statement issued after the end of the works of the conference, held under the slogan of "Western Sahara decolonization, sole guarantor of peace and stability in the region," the participants urged the international organizations and institutions, as well as the international community, to "fully support the Sahrawi people in their struggle for independence."

Besides, they denounced, "the war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated by Morocco in the Sahrawi occupied territories," and accused the "French and Spanish governments of complicity."

They also reaffirmed "their attachment to the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination," stressing that it is "the only solution" for this conflict "whose consequences on the stability of the region must be fully assumed by France and Morocco."

In this same regard, participants denounced the "Moroccan hindrances" to international resolutions, dubbing King Mohamed IV's visit to the Sahrawi occupied territories "irresponsible provocation". The demonstration held Saturday in Madrid, which brought together thousands of persons from the five continents represents "an encouraging initiative" for the continuation of the struggle for decolonization," the participants affirmed.

The enlargement of the mandate of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to monitoring and protection of human rights in the occupied Saharawi territories has been highlighted by the organizers who called, in this respect, for "the release of all Saharawi prisoners in Moroccan prisons".

In addition, participants paid tribute to the African Union, in particular Algeria, their support to the resolution of this conflict and the decolonization of the last colony in Africa. This support "was expressed during all events of the pan-African organization and the consequent assistance to the Saharawi people."
