Juppé supports Ross's efforts to resolve conflict in Western Sahara

Algiers,February 03, 2016 (SPS) -Mayor of Bordeaux (France) Alain Juppé stressed Tuesday in Algiers that he supported the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara Christopher Ross to find a solution the conflict.

 

"I back the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the UN for Western Sahara Christopher Ross" to find a solution to this conflict, which has lasted for several years, affirmed Juppé at a conference hosted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before the students of the Institute Diplomatic for International Relations (IDRI) and the School of Business (ESA), attended by Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra.

 

The UN has said it will continue to defend the right of Ross to visit the Western Sahara in accordance with the mandate assigned to him by the Security Council.

 

"We have defended and continue to defend the right of Ross to visit all areas of the territory (Western Sahara), which are part of his mandate," Ban Ki-moon's deputy spokesman Farhan Haq stressed recently.(SPS)
