Asa (South of Morocco), 7 Feb 2016 (SPS) - Sahrawi human rights activist Alisalem Tamek started Saturday an open-ended sit-in in the Principal Square in Assa, South of Morocco, to protest against being systematically banned from the right to continue his higher studies since 2007 in the Moroccan universities.
“The Moroccan regime still insists on preventing me from pursuing my university studies, in violation to all the international covenants and conventions, and is still determined to take revenge from me and damage my life, as it had already tried in miserable scenarios that targeted me and my family, because of my views on the Western Sahara issue that contradict with the official position of the Moroccan state,” said Sahrawi human rights activist Alisalem Tamek in a statement.
The open-ended sit-in will be followed by an open-ended hunger strike in the office of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, Assa section, the statement added.
Alisalem Tamek appealed, in the statement, to all Sahrawis and noble democracy advocates worldwide to support him until he obtains his legitimate right to higher education. (SPS)
