Oslo, Feb 14, 2016 (SPS) The president of the Norwegian Fund of support for students and professors, Niklas Paulsen, called the United Nations to accelerate the holding of a referendum to allow the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.
During a meeting with the representative of the Polisario Front, Limam Khalil, Paulsen described the continuing illegal occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco unacceptable, urging the international community to take action to accelerate the decolonization of the last colony in Africa through the exercise of the Saharawi people of their legitimate right to self-determination and independence.
The Norwegian organization launched in 2015 a campaign under the slogan "Western Sahara: 40 years is enough" in order to put pressure on the Norwegian government to play an effective role in allowing the Saharawi people to enjoy their right to self-determination and independence. (SPS)
