Sahrawi people celebrate 49th anniversary of National Unity declaration

Wilaya of Laayoune (Refugee Camps), 12 October 2024 (SPS) - The Sahrawi people celebrated today the 49th anniversary of the declaration of National Unity on 12 October 1975, and the National Day of Advisory Council, in the wilaya of Laayoune, Sahrawi refugee camps, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali.

The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Governor of the wilaya of Laayoune, Mr. Al-Ghauth Mamouni, in which he saluted the struggle of the Sahrawi people, especially in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, who today celebrate this great event under the brutal Moroccan occupation. He also hailed the Saharawi community around the world, who are celebrating this great occasion.

The opening also witnessed a speech by a delegation from Namibia, who affirmed his country's support for the rights of the Sahrawi people and expressed its admiration for the unique experience of the institutions of the Sahrawi State, and the gains achieved by the Sahrawi people through their sacrifices and national unity.

Speeches were also given by national figures, all of which focused on the event of national unity and the circumstances of its announcement, stressing that it is an irreversible historical gain, under which gains were achieved and all attempts by enemies to eliminate the Sahrawi people were shattered.
