Algeria, October 06, 2024 (SPS) - Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune confirmed that the recent French position on the Sahrawi issue is an act that reflects a policy of double standards.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during his periodic media meeting with representatives of the Algerian national media, broadcasted yesterday evening, Saturday, on Algerian television and radio channels, considered the public announcement of approval of the so-called autonomy proposal at a time when the Western Sahara file is at the level of the United Nations Decolonization Committee, an act that reflects a policy of double standards.
In the same context, the President of the Algerian Republic stressed that France's recognition of the so-called "autonomy plan" as the sole basis for resolving the Western Sahara conflict within the framework of the "alleged Moroccan sovereignty" comes against respect for international law and the UN Security Council, of which France is a permanent member.
He added, "We know that the autonomy plan is a French idea, not a Moroccan one, and its owner is a French president."
